Donald Edward Wilson, age 91, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home, while surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

A funeral service to honor Don, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Faith Methodist Church 8608 Martin Luther King Drive Orange, Texas, 77632; Pastor Amy Walker officiating.  Rite of committal and interment will immediately follow, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Orange, Texas,where Military Honors will be presented by the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group. Visitation of family and friends will be held at 9 AM, Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Faith Methodist Church.

On Monday, December 12, 1932, Don was born to Clint and Mabel Wilson. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and after serving his country, he began a career at Firestone Polymer in Orange, Texas, from where he later retired. Don lived a fruitful and full life, filled with a deep love of fishing and hosting get togethers, at his home. He spent lots of time at the VFW Post 2775, in Orange, Texas, where he loved to play pool and spend time with his fellow veterans, family, and friends. He met the love of his life,Mary Elizabeth Sandlin,while spending time at the VFW Post 2775, and they later married, in February 1996. Don also enjoyed his weekly meals and visits, at Spanky’s Bar & Grill, where he was a regular customer. He was affectionally known as Pawpaw, by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and those who loved him dearly.

Don is survived by his daughters, Donna Dearing and husband, Steve, of Hawaii, Shasta Rose (aka Kathy), of Spring, and Cyndi Riemer, of Kauai, Hawaii; sons, Bryan Sandlin, of Orange Texas, David Sandlin and wife, Dana, of Orange, Texas, and Tommy Anderson, of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Garrett Dearing and wife, Yeni, Shawn Dearing, Mikaela Ham Young and husband, Ryan, Skyla Lowery, Austin Riemer, Sierra Suko and husband, Elijah, Dyanna (Sandlin) Lea and husband, Joe, Dae Leigh (Sandlin) Bellamy and husband, Devin, Dalayna (Sandlin) Amedee and husband, Chris, Dawson Sandlin, and Darian Sandin; great-grandchildren, Isis Dearing, Blaze Ham Young, Rylee Ham Young, Nora Suko, Ember Lea, and Marik Lea; brother, Terry Wilson and wife, Pattilea, of Cypress; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Wilson; parents, Clint and Mabel Wilson; siblings, Michael Wilson, Sr., Charles Wilson, Carole Peet, and Janie Wilson; daughter, Amy Anderson; and granddaughter, Shara Ellis.

Honoring Don as pallbearers are his loving family and dear friends.
